The use of awk gawkisms will prevent the script from running correctly on systems that use a traditional awk interpreter. Many [[GNU]] based packages assume that the [[awk]] interpreter is [[gawk]] and utilize [[gawkism]]s in their build and installation scripts. This causes the installation process to fail on systems that use a traditional awk interpreter.
